Like you, over the years, Amanda and I have watched many of the policies coming out of Olympia become increasingly out of touch. Many of these policies disproportionately affect rural areas and further disadvantage poor communities who simply cannot afford to keep up with the ever increasing burden of new taxes and regulatory requirements or weaken the authority parents have within their own families.
Politics is a family passion. Recognizing the need for new leadership, Amanda gave up her 20 year banking career so she could make a difference. She ran for and twice won a seat on the Yakima County Board of Commissioners. Through this role, she also serves on the Board of Directors and the Legislative Steering Committee of the Washington State Association of Counties, and represents the state of Washington serving on the Board of Directors of the Western Interstate Region and the Rural & Agricultural Affairs Committee of the National Association of Counties.
She has been pivotal as a member of the finance committee of Brian Haywood’s led Let’s Go Washington, bringing into reality three grassroots initiatives while bringing four more initiatives to the ballot designed to limit taxes and to provide a legacy of fuel choice for Washingtonians.
We have chosen to become more involved with our time, our money, our relationships and our advocacy by supporting the Washington Policy Center, Project 47, A League of Their Own and others who are providing critical research and leadership throughout Washington state.
